The Ordinary Glycolic ACID 7% Toning sOLUTION
Toner seems to be in a grey category in the skincare world.
Some argue that it’s not needed and does absolutely nothing while others can’t go about their routine without one. I happen to agree with the latter. Just like I feel dirty forgoing my nighttime double cleanse, I feel strange without a toner in my routine. It preps my skin for serums and moisturizers and not having one is synonymous with anarchy for my pores.
Recently, I noticed my skin texture has become rough and dull and my trusted Thayers witch hazel was not cutting it. What to do? Who to call? I decided to take action into my own hands! First, I popped into Walgreens and bought some Flamin’ Hot Cheetos to soothe my pain. Then, I went into Deciem and purchased The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution to see if it could help restore my complexion and faith. It was 8 dollars and I had a bag of hot Cheetos in my purse should all else fail. What could I lose?
Being on the oily side of life, I’ve had a toner in my rotation since I was 14. Acne came out debutante style and I was not prepared for the occasion. I hoped that by swiping the light blue water on my face twice a day, it would eliminate my acne. I put all my trust that it would smooth and soothe my troubled skin, maybe even fix my mood swings. While it helped in some areas, it was a pretty drying experience and that’s the problem with toners!
You might have tried one hoping to gain clear radiant skin and eliminate your acne but all it did was leave your skin more irritated than before. You’re swollen, puffy, and alone. How can you open your heart again?! But it’s 2019 and you’re older and wiser. You know that there are great toners out there for you. They keep in mind your pH levels and actually do what they claim. To brighten and remove excess sebum. Something we can depend on in this fickle, cruel world.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution is effective yet gentle. The first time I tried it, I felt a slight stinging sensation but that went away after a minute. Since then, I haven’t experienced any tingling or stinging on my skin and due to its low pH level, your skin will feel nourished and refreshed. I have been using it religiously for the past two weeks and have noticed a difference. While my skin is on the oily side, I do NOT recommend this toner for sensitive skin!
First of all, my forehead line that seems to be permanently pressed above my left brow has lessen. My dark spots have slowly diminished around my cheeks and forehead. My complexion has a more glow-from-within and less dead-on-the-inside appearance. I can even skip Skin Tint! It hasn’t completely cleared my complexion but it has made a significant dent. For 8 dollars, you can’t beat glowing skin sans makeup. Now I can raise a red Cheeto and cheers to that.
