Marc jacobs Beauty Accomplice concealer & touch-up stick
During these uncertain times, every day is different, but the one constant I can rely on is that my under eye circles will make their morning appearance.
That being said, I have a very close relationship with my concealer, particularly the Nars Creamy Concealer that I have been using since college. Instead of restocking it on my last beauty haul, I decided to branch out and give the Marc Jacobs Accomplice and Touch Up Stick a try. Now, this wasn’t an impulse buy that sneaked its way between the shuffle of eyeliners and facial masks in my shopping cart. In fact, I’ve wanted to try the touch-up stick back when it came out last year. The packaging attracted me with a combination of looks and practicality. Finally! A concealer small enough to toss in my jean pocket when I’m running late for work which is often. However, the packaging is nothing compared to the formula, the real star, and thus has earned a place on The Lust Edit this summer.
The product comes in 17 shades, which is good but I think there’s definitely room for improvement for darker skin tones. The shade that matches me the best is medium 39, described online as being “medium tan with peach undertones”. The only other Marc Jacobs Beauty product that I had before this was the Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter in Fantasy, a highlighter known in my collection for building a versatile, healthy glow. The touch-up stick has won me over with its rich, creamy full-coverage formula that blends effortlessly regardless of the application tool or method. Whether using your fingers to tap the product on or swiping it on straight from the tube, it’s pretty foolproof with the ability to conceal and diffuse evenly.
I’ve stayed away from full coverage face makeup since I’ve associated it with a cakey, unnatural, bump coverage that just screams dryness. As a dewy devotee, I steer clear from any product that boasts its ability to mask texture and dry powders in large compacts with sponges. However, with this stick concealer, the magic is in the flex that doesn’t settle into fine lines and moves with you, not against you as you go through your day. A long-lasting concealer with very little touch-up, I can’t put it down and I’m kicking myself for going so long without it in my makeup bag. My under-eye circles were covered with one swipe. JUST ONE SWIPE and I’m covered for any Zoom meetings or last-minute FaceTime calls with my friends. With that in mind, I like to introduce the Lust Edit routine.
The best way to kick off this look is with clean, moisturized skin that is primed with any primer you prefer. It’s beneficial to have a primed, hydrated face so that no product builds up and gathers on dry areas around your face. Swirl your shade on your ring finger to warm up the product. Gently, tap on the concealer under your eyes and any areas that you want to conceal like the corners of your nose. Follow it up with a damp makeup sponge and gently dab to further blend and create a skin-like finish. Top off your face with a healthy, dirty rose blush and non-shimmer highlighter. For the eyes, keep it simple with a brown eyeliner and a coat of volumizing mascara and voilà!
