True story: I left a date early because I had to go home to do my nighttime skincare routine.

That should give you some idea about how serious I take skincare, besides making a blog about it. I’ve tweaked my regimen with new toners, cleansers, moisturizers, and what have you. However, I’ve gotten lazy the last few weeks and might have forgotten to double cleanse one, maybe three days in a row. I chose a Cronenberg movie marathon with beer and friends instead of my nighttime serum. Dramatic, I know. But things did get a little out of hand last week at my boyfriend’s place, and I neglected to bring my skincare kit with me. When I finally got back home, I noticed texture along my cheeks, dullness on my forehead, and whiteheads on my nose. Very, very rough. While it took almost a week for my skin to get to this point, I needed something quick to help get my skin back into shape. Enter the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment.

With salons and spas still closed in my area, I have to rely on products to do double duty, treat and maintain. The ExfoliKate Intensive Treatment has three types of exfoliation (physical, chemical, and enzymatic), which makes this a powerhouse in a tube. In particular, enzymatic exfoliation is a favorite of mine since I got my first facial from Luciana Huang, a literal skin magician. What enzymes do in particular is eat the dead skin from the skin’s surface for a healthier, fresher complexion with new skin cells. With the addition of AHA and BHA to help loosen up the dead skin sitting on the surface, this product is the dream team for someone who hasn’t been diligently keeping up with their skincare routine, no judgment *cough*. Also, it takes two minutes to do, which is less time than it takes to brew French press coffee, which is pretty amazing in my book.

Now, I know the price is pretty steep at a whopping $175 for 5.5 oz, but after researching other products and hearing the reviews, I felt confident spending the extra coin. However, I’m always open to great dupes, so if you have any, please comment below and share the love. For now, I’m pretty happy having this tube sit in my shower caddy for when I luxuriate in my shampoo and conditioner, I’m not sure why guys tend to like 2 in 1 shampoo products but to each their own but not on my scalp. Also, did I mention that it works best in the shower? A huge plus for someone who is always running late. An absolute winner for when I spent the last week sitting on the couch, watching documentaries, and eating French toast with my other half.
