Swipe flesh lip compact
The amount of lip products in my makeup cabinet incites a small panic in me while getting ready for the day.
I use different colors for different events such as a Bordeaux red for drinks, a glossy lip for a quick Trader Joe’s run, and a bright fuchsia for late-night Dim Sum dates. Against my better financial judgment, I’m always looking to expand my collection and the brand I’ve been dying to try is Flesh, the brainchild of Linda Wells’s, founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Allure magazine. I got the chance to try out the brand when their website had a 40% off sale for Black Friday. I loaded my cart with different glosses and lipsticks, but the one that has earned a space in my everyday makeup bag comes in a small, square compact. Swipe Flesh Lip Compact in Swollen is the dream kissable, pillowy lips are made of. (something more?)
Swirling your finger in the compact will have you assume that it’s your run-of-the-mill lipstick moved from a tube to a pan, but you would be wrong. The consistency is creamy, packed with lots of pigment. However, when you swipe it on your lips, the cream gives way to a smooth, fluid-like powder that diffuses to give a “just kissed” airbrushed effect. It’s easy to build up intensity using your finger or lip brush and applying multiple coats to great a bold lip. I like to switch it up with two different looks using this compact.
The first is a dreamy, barely tinted lip by applying two thin coats of color and blotting it out gently along my natural lip line using the warmth of my fingertip. The second is an amplified Bardot-in-the-city look, being my personal favorite lately. I line my lips in feather-like strokes with a pinkish-brown lip liner, my hands-down favorite is MAC’s Spice. Using my finger, I gently dab the color onto my lips, making sure to blend out both for a fuller effect. I’ve been looking for a product that could fulfill my bedhead leisure style and this one earns the first-ever spot on The Lust Edit. I’m already looking at other shades to expand my collection, Shiver seems to promise a Jeanne Damas-inspired look if I do say so myself.
