No-Fuss Daytime Skincare Routine
She wakes up at five in the morning before the sun peeks out from the lush green mountainside. Dressed in her organic silk nightgown, she heads to the bathroom to lather herself in LeLabo shower gel and Oribe hair products. She listens to The Daily podcast as she slathers her skin in luxurious body lotions while wearing a LED light therapy mask. She has whatever Violet Grey recommends and has the time to give herself a manicure. She is the girl that gets the perfect blowout without the wrist cramp. Bangs lay perfectly across her forehead with a twist and flick of the wrist. She is dressed and making herself a cappuccino before seven.
Anyway, here’s how I start my morning.
I roll out of bed at a time I won’t say because it is embarrassingly late with my sleep mask half off my face and my bangs flipped up to my forehead. In a 3XL shirt with ‘gnocchi’ written across the chest in Gucci font, I stumble to the bathroom and bump my knee on the door. I go downstairs to the sound of the espresso machine whirling as my fiancé asks me if I want an Americano. I mumble yes while wiping the crust from my eyes. Only when half my coffee remains will I start my skincare routine.
Since turning 28, I noticed that my once oily skin feels dryer, so I have taken a break from using iS Clinical Cleansing Complex to switch to CeraVe. CeraVe’s Hydrating Facial Cleanser gives my skin so much moisture and gently cleanses without the dry, tight feeling. I pat my skin a bit but make sure it is still damp to follow it up with COSRX’s 95 Tone Balancing Essence in quick patting motions. The essence leaves a smooth base to build upon and feels hydrating. Triple it down with another tall glass of water in the form of hyaluronic acid. Currently, I am using The Ordinary’s serum.
What helps me keep my skincare routine from feeling like a chore is how straightforward each step is. I take a break here to grab another cup of coffee or start a 90 Day Fiancé podcast to play in the background. I’m addicted, and I’m not proud of it, but here we are. The Klairs Freshly Juiced is the only vitamin C serum that doesn’t smell strong or off-putting hot dog water. I wish the bottle was amber to protect the serum from light, but it’s a great, reliable serum.
I just ran out of eye cream, so I skipped that step. Usually, it’s The Inkey List Caffeine during the day. The piece of resistance is the COSRX’s Ultra Moisturizing Lotion, I have been using this for years, and I always repurchase this. It’s a gel formula that sinks in when you press it in. It provides a smooth base for makeup since it doesn’t cause creasing in your makeup or pilling. My current sunscreen is the Natural Daily Sun Cream by A’pieu. It smells so good and disappears onto the skin with a dewy complexion.
That is about it, and now I am ready to start the day by drinking more coffee and catching up on emails. This routine has helped with acne scarring and hyperpigmentation for me. What are you currently using? Any recommendations? Also, are you watching 90 Day Fiancé Before the 90 Days? Let’s chat!
